Samsung has recently started an innovative new campaign, to raise awareness of ‘Samsung Memory’.

Their campaign includes three evil characters: Battery Brutus; Fiona Freeze; and Loading Ball Larry. These three characters are presented at the ultimate enemy to any techie! After all, who wants their device (be it a TV, smartphone, tablet etc.) to run out of juice, freeze or take forever to load?

Battery Brutus, Fiona Freeze and Loading Ball Larry - SamsungSamsung have been working really hard to improve user experience, which is why they have decided to launch the campaign, to let people know about it!

Taking an Environmental Approach

As time goes on, more and more firms appear to be altering the way they provide their products and services in order to make them more environmentally friendly. Unfortunately there are many firms which still refuse to take environmental factors into account, however Samsung is (I am sure proud to say) not one of them!

In their recent upgrades and updates, Samsung have gone that step further to ensure that your devices stay ‘alive’ longer, need fewer charges, and perform better for longer.

That means you should be able to keep Battery Brutus at bay for longer! Check out the video (Samsung ad) below to see him in action.

The below image shows just how much power Samsung’s devices conserve. That saving means less charges, which means less power being used, which is ultimately better for the environment!

“Our products continuously evolve. We use the latest technology. The most advanced materials. The safest components for you, and for planet earth. Samsung Memory is only manufactured with the most environmentally responsible materials.”

Top Speed Processing

Samsung’s latest devices are fitted with the high-spec memory and processors, to ensure that you can multi-task with ease, without your device freezing or loading. This means that you can also keep Fiona Freeze and Loading Ball Larry at bay!

The last of the characters in the Samsung campaign, Loading Ball Larry, demonstrates just how frustrating loading can sometimes be. Please don’t smash up your device though, next time it loads!

Commodore is making a comeback

People who were born after 1990 tend to consider a world without the technology they rely on so much an unimaginable place. However, such a world existed not long ago. In fact, while technology existed a decade prior, it would be considered stone age artifacts by most people today who utilise touchscreen mobile devices and lightning fast desktop computers.

Unfortunately, few people take the time to look back and appreciate the types of devices that paved the way for the popular pieces of technology that we use so often today. Whether it is that massive cell phone from an episode of Saved by the Bell, or the Commodore 64 from 1982, there are many forgotten pieces that were the stepping-stones for modern technology.

An old computer

A Commodore 64

To help neutralise this widespread neglect, the commodore is being re-released with a few modern upgrades. This re-release has been received with high regard by both people from the generation of the original commodore, as well as people from modern generations just discovering its significance.

Below are a few elements of the modern Commodore that people are finding most appealing.

Nostalgia

One of the most notable benefits that people see with the release of the modern commodore is the nostalgic aspect it provides. While the hardware specifications have been modernised, the overall look and feel of the new commodore has remained true to its roots. The keyboard keys are the same shape and colour as the original commodore. Additionally, consumers can even play the old 8-bit games that were all the rage back in the heyday of this classic machine.

Functional Enough For Modern Usage

The new commodore has been equipped with some modern hardware that makes it operational for general use with modern amenities without much trouble. While it does not have the performance capability of an ultrabook, it does have generous processing power with an Intel Atom 1.8 GZ dual core CPU as well as 2 GB of RAM that can be doubled if the consumer wishes for a little more speed. Additionally, there is a wide selection of USB ports available to ensure all of your peripherals can be utilised.

Affordability

Another beneficial element of the commodore that has attracted consumers is the price. Consumers can expect to pay anything from $250 for the most basic option to $850 for the most decked out model.

The re-release of the Commodore has caught the attention of a wide selection of consumers. From people of the generation that used the first C64 model to play their 8-bit video games, to people from modern generations that are just discovering this important machine. Whether you want to relive the good old days of simple technology or just want a fun conversational piece, the new commodore might be a good investment for you.

New Samsung Devices – Announced and Rumoured

Samsung have certainly had a busy few months. In 2011 they saw huge success with their Galaxy S2 Smart Phone, which is still continuing to thrive even today. They also saw the success of their largest tablet on the market – the Galaxy Tab 10.1 – and rolled out similar high quality devices with the Galaxy Nexus and the Galaxy Tab 8.9.

At the end of 2011, Samsung snook another two tablets into the market, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and the Galaxy Tab 7.7 – almost without anyone realising. The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is only available in small quantities currently, but due to its initial success, it is expected to be made more widely available in the near future.

Samsung's LogoHowever, for a company that seems to have the best products currently in the market, they certainly haven’t held fire when it comes to announcing and releasing even more devices.

Just recently, Samsung announced their newest tablet (although it may not be their newest for long, but we’ll get to that) the Galaxy Tab 2 – a more entry level tablet similar in spec to the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus but with a slightly slower processor, a 1 GHz dual-core processor compared to the 1.2GHz dual-core processor in its 7.0 Plus counterpart, with Samsung trying to succeed in the market of cheaper electronic goods which has seen Amazon compete so successfully in recently.

Not to rest on their laurels, Samsung are also rumoured to be announcing a 10.1 inch version of their Galaxy Note (one of the biggest smart phones currently in the market, often referred to as a ‘phablet’ due to its similarities to a tablet rather than a phone) which has been reported from several sources due to Samsung accidentally releasing details about the Galaxy Note 10.1 being announced at this month’s MWC and also advertising for a young male to be seen using a ‘Galaxy Note 10.1’ device.

So, will Samsung’s new devices do as well as their previous releases? Only time will tell, but my guess is that they will.
